The Unexpected Joy of Finding Your People
At the Berkshire Yoga Festival, I met Deb from Amesbury, MA. We chatted, she tried on one of my Flora Pink Zentangle tanks—and instantly, it felt like I had found a kindred spirit.
Deb is now part of what I call my butterfly flock. She showed up with warmth, curiosity, and this light that made the entire day better. We’ve kept in touch since, and I can honestly say: this feels like the beginning of a real friendship.
As I get older, I’ve realized how powerful it is to keep making connections. It’s not always easy to put yourself out there, but when you do? The rewards are real.
Studies show that meaningful friendships can help reduce stress, sharpen memory, boost immunity, and even increase longevity. According to Harvard Health, strong social bonds are just as important as exercise and nutrition when it comes to aging well.
Creating art, building Umindak, showing up at events like BYF—it’s all been part of this larger journey. But the best part? The people. The conversations. The unexpected moments of connection that remind me I’m not alone.
Deb looked fabulous in the Flora Pink Zentangle tank top. If you’re interested in this design, leave a comment on my Instagram post—if I get enough requests, I’ll release it to the shop.
My goal is to release new designs every month. But my hope? That each one connects us a little more.
WholeARTedly, Det
